Message Back in spring when I began my search for a 300zx TT I happened to come across the immaculate NA which I now own today. I can honestly say I've never had as much fun driving as I have in the past months.

After doing some minor upgrades (see profile); I believe I have reached my power limit without spending every penny in the piggy bank.

Of course, a twin turbo swap has always been in the back my mind filed under "yeah right" jobs.

So just the other day my buddy and I went over to the local Nissan dealership to get some of the new belts tightened that I had installed with the early 60k and under drive pulley. For kicks, my roommate Jett (who is a horsepower whore with his '99 cobra) suggested I ask how much an entire engine swap would set me back if I had a front clip delivered to the service department. So I did. He went back and brought out the head mechanic who took a look at the car, and then disappeared into the office to check some numbers. Within five minutes he was back out. I was barely listening as he explained how many hours it would take (I was waiting to hear a number over $3,000 at least) but what came out was $1,350.

Now that seems super low, and I'm sure the mechanic has no idea what he's in for. Or maybe they just are having trouble getting business. However, if I were to get him to sign some sort of agreement (aside from the estimate) stating the price of the job (with $500 leeway or so), and what exactly was to be done, then why not go for it? It would be certified from the dealership, so it would have to be completed in working order. As a college student I can afford to not have my car for a couple days (I was told they could have it finished in two), since school is within biking distance.

So that's the first part.

The second part is looking into getting VG30DETT. Of course, I've seen a lot of people recommend just getting a clip, so you can be sure all the parts are there, as opposed to buying just the engine and having to find parts like the intercoolers, right?

Anyway, I just thought I would share this new information, and hopefully get some feedback as to whether or not this is a possibility, or maybe the dealership is just going to get in there and say they want four grand to finish the job.

Thanks.
